Description

Bassermann-Jordan’s Ancestrale revisits an approach to winemaking associated with Andreas Jordan and the estate’s history in the Palatinate. It uses Riesling from Grosse Lage vineyards, with very ripe grapes selected by hand. After settling, the juice ferments in wood with the grapes’ own yeasts and spends an extended period on the lees. A silky texture and a little residual sweetness are balanced by lively acidity. The 2021 profile includes citrus, peach and tropical suggestions, with honeyed nuances. It can accompany spicy Asian dishes and strongly flavoured cheeses.
