Description

Bassermann-Jordan’s Kalkofen Riesling comes from a Deidesheim vineyard named after a lime kiln that stood there in the fifteenth century. The slope tilts gently southwards and is sheltered to the north by sandstone walls. Grapes are selected by hand and gently pressed; the juice ferments with vineyard yeasts in wood and stainless steel, followed by time on the lees. In the 2024 vintage, citrus, herbs and spice accompany a chalky, saline mineral impression. Its dry structure and acidity support a long finish, maintaining definition throughout the palate.
