Description

Dubreuil-Fontaine's Corton Clos du Roi Grand Cru comes from Pinot Noir parcels halfway up the hill on fairly steep slopes facing east and southeast. The red clay soil is rich in iron oxide and relatively low in limestone. Grapes are hand-harvested, sorted and destemmed; vinification in temperature-controlled stainless steel precedes maturation in oak barrels. Red and black fruits and woodland undergrowth form the aromatic profile. The palate is rich and concentrated, with blackberry, blueberry, saline nuances and a long finish. Suggested accompaniments include beef, roast pigeon and lamb.
