Description

Clos Berthet Premier Cru is Dubreuil-Fontaine's white monopole in Pernand-Vergelesses. Chardonnay grows on the upper slope, in clay-limestone soils dominated by white marl. Grapes are hand-harvested and sorted; fermentation takes place in oak, with malolactic fermentation and lees stirring. Maturation combines barrels and egg-shaped concrete vessels. The aromatic profile suggests citrus and saline nuances, while the palate is taut, mineral, intense and persistent. Fish terrines, prawns and pan-fried scallops are suggested food matches, with a serving temperature between ten and twelve degrees for this single-estate vineyard wine.
