Dubreuil-Fontaine's Les Vergelesses Rouge is a Savigny-lès-Beaune Premier Cru made from Pinot Noir. Two parcels lie halfway up a southeast-facing slope, while a third is beside the Bois de Noël; the clay-limestone soils are light and gravelly. Hand harvesting, selection and destemming precede vinification in temperature-controlled stainless steel and maturation in oak. The bouquet combines strawberry, blackcurrant and rose petals. The palate is fine and supple, with spicy nuances on the finish. Roast poultry, veal and mild cheeses are suggested matches for this red Burgundy.
