Description

Pirrera comes from a single contrada on Mount Etna’s northern slope, approximately 850 metres above sea level. Eduardo Torres Acosta has been restoring this partly abandoned vineyard, where mature Nerello Mascalese vines grow alongside other local varieties. Its name refers to volcanic stones and the historical quarrying associated with the site. This is a vineyard-specific interpretation of the volcano, distinct from the multiple parcels blended for Versante Nord. The elevated location supports a particularly fresh, lighter expression, while the mature vines preserve the character of Etna’s traditional mixed plantings.
