Description

Les Crayères Vieilles Vignes concentrates Egly-Ouriet’s expression of Pinot Noir in a south-facing plot in Ambonnay. Beneath a thin layer of topsoil lies a deep formation of chalk, directly reflected in the vineyard’s name. The old vines, some planted after the Second World War, are harvested by hand. Fermentation with indigenous yeasts in oak precedes extended maturation in bottle. The importer describes yellow and red fruit, spice and toasted notes. A broad, intense palate retains the house’s vinous character, given additional depth by the precise identity of this single vineyard.
