Description

Les Hauts Meuniers 2016 focuses on old Meunier vines in the upper part of Mont Benoît at Villers-aux-Nœuds. Planted in 1962 through massal selection, they grow in clay and silt over chalk bedrock. Emmanuel Brochet uses a vertical press and allows fermentation to start spontaneously in used barrels. The wine remains on its lees for eleven months without stirring or racking before another extended maturation in bottle. Neither fined nor filtered, this vintage selection offers a particularly focused interpretation of the grape and its hillside position, distinct from the estate's main blended cuvée.
