Emmerich Knoll's Grüner Veltliner Smaragd Ried Schütt is closely tied to one of the Wachau's historic vineyards, between Dürnstein and Unterloiben. Schütt was formed from material carried by the Menthalbach stream: sand, gravel and fragments of gneiss make up deep, well-drained soils. The cuvée belongs to the Smaragd category, an important part of the Knoll family's production. Cellar work includes large, previously used wooden vessels, keeping the wine's origin in focus. Grape variety, site and family tradition define this Austrian white, whose identity remains connected to its particular geological setting.
