Description

Felton Road’s Block 2 Chardonnay 2024 comes from The Elms vineyard at Bannockburn in Central Otago. The parcel, planted in 1992, faces east and has deep schist-gravel deposits. Mendoza-clone grapes are whole-bunch pressed; the juice ferments spontaneously in predominantly used French oak and completes malolactic fermentation. After seventeen months in barrel, the wine is bottled without fining or filtration. Elderflower and chamomile accompany lemon and grapefruit rind, while taut acidity supports a linear texture and a mineral finish, retaining the definition of this individual vineyard.
