Description

Fontaine-Gagnard's Bourgogne Rouge brings together Pinot Noir from La Platière in Chassagne-Montrachet and Les Longbois in Volnay. These sites connect two parts of the Côte de Beaune within a regional appellation. The southwest-facing vineyards have marl-rich clay-limestone soils. The wine follows the estate's cellar method, based on indigenous yeasts and maturation in oak barrels. Its character combines fruit and roundness, associated in part with the mature vines from which it comes. Founded in 1985, the Chassagne-Montrachet estate maintains an approach to vineyard care that includes attention to soil cultivation.
