Description

Fontaine-Gagnard's La Maltroie is made from Chardonnay in the Ez Cretz and Les Rebichets sectors of this Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru. The vines face southeast on relatively deep but light, freely draining soils, with little clay and few stones. The name La Maltroie derives from an old Latin term associated with a burial place. Cellar work includes indigenous yeasts and maturation in oak. The wine expresses intense ripe-fruit aromas that can be appreciated in youth, accompanied by a subtle mineral character that helps define its overall balance.
