Description

Fontaine-Gagnard's Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru is made from Chardonnay in the Les Criots lieu-dit. The name refers to the chalky, stony nature of the ground, formed by Callovian oolitic limestone and, in the lower section, Bathonian limestone. The parcel lies at around 240 metres, facing south and southwest. Indigenous-yeast fermentation and maturation in oak follow the estate's approach. The wine brings together richness and ripe-fruit aromas with substantial persistence; finesse and harmony accompany the substance of this Chardonnay expression from the vineyards of Chassagne-Montrachet.
