Description
Fontaine-Gagnard's Le Montrachet Grand Cru is made from Chardonnay in the Le Montrachet lieu-dit, at around 260 metres above sea level. The soil consists of Argovian marl with clays of different colours, including red, green, purple and orange. The place name refers to a stony, bare hill characterised by boxwood and thorny shrubs. Cellar work uses indigenous yeasts and maturation in oak barrels. The wine develops finesse, elegance and aromatic complexity with time; its evolution in bottle progressively accompanies the expression of this Grand Cru's power.
