Description

Munjebel Rosso is Frank Cornelissen’s interpretation of Nerello Mascalese from several vineyards in Etna’s northern valley, around Castiglione di Sicilia. Parcels also used for individual contrada selections are joined by other estate sites, creating a collective expression of the volcano. The grapes are destemmed and gently crushed, fermentation begins with indigenous yeasts, and extraction is handled with restraint. Maturation in fibreglass keeps oak aromas out of the picture. The resulting style combines fragrance, ripe fruit and a clear tannic presence, pursuing richness and elegance through the grape and the region’s traditional red-wine identity.
