Description

Franz Keller's white Schlossberg GG is a Grauburgunder, the German name for Pinot Gris, from Achkarren in the Kaiserstuhl. Steep slopes and protection from the wind encourage heat to accumulate, creating a distinctive vineyard microclimate. The ground is characterised by calcareous volcanic rock, particularly tephrite. The parcel's history is closely connected with the wish to preserve old vines and their genetic heritage. This wine consequently offers a focused interpretation of its origin, where geology, exposure and the protection of established vines are central elements of the estate's approach to the site.
