Description

Lamaione is Tenuta CastelGiocondo’s Merlot, first produced in 1991 from a planting project begun in the 1970s. The vineyard lies near Montalcino, at around three hundred metres above sea level, on southwest-facing marine clay soils. In the 2020 vintage, hand harvesting and berry selection preceded fermentation in stainless steel. The wine then matured in French oak barriques before resting in bottle. Its bouquet includes red fruits, plum, roasted coffee, cocoa and liquorice. Broad and warm on the palate, it combines velvety tannins with a long, persistent finish that carries its aromatic character.
