Description

Costa Russi comes from the lower, cooler part of a hillside in Barbaresco, below Sorì Tildìn, with a south to southwesterly exposure. Its name combines the hillside setting with the nickname of the sharecropper who once worked the vineyard. The 2009 vintage is predominantly Nebbiolo with a small proportion of Barbera, reflecting this historical phase of the cuvée. Oak maturation forms part of a selection intended to combine body, refinement and the ability to develop. The site's cooler position helps define its place among the Gaja family's individual vineyard wines.
