Description

Geltz-Zilliken’s 2010 Rausch Auslese Goldkapsel is a sweet Riesling from the Rausch vineyard in Saarburg, in the Saar. The hillside contains Devonian slate and diabase, a rock of volcanic origin. The vintage brought pronounced grape concentration alongside incisive acidity. In the glass, the wine retains a pale colour and develops iodine-like and fruity suggestions with delicate notes associated with noble rot. Maturation in large casks forms part of a dense, compact structure threaded with vibrant freshness. Sweetness and acid tension together define the character of this Goldkapsel selection.
