Description

Geltz-Zilliken’s 2016 Rausch Grosses Gewächs is a dry Saar Riesling made entirely from estate-grown grapes harvested by hand. The vineyard lies on Devonian slate and diabase, distinctive geological components of the Rausch hillside. Vinification and maturation take place entirely in Fuder, large casks of neutral wood. The aromatic profile combines flint, flowers and fruit with a touch of spice. On the palate, incisive acidity supports a finely drawn texture, where tension is accompanied by a slight suppleness. The finish is long and saline, consistent with the cuvée’s dry style.
