Description
Jean Chartron's Sous la Roche is a red Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes-de-Beaune made from Pinot Noir on clay-limestone soils. The estate's vineyard includes plantings from several periods, spanning 1962 to 1998, over a little more than forty ares. Fermentation takes place in open wooden vats. The wine then matures on its fine lees in new and previously used oak barrels for approximately twelve months. The cuvée represents one of the family's red expressions, alongside a production also closely connected with the white-wine vineyards of Puligny-Montrachet.
