Description
Jean Chartron's Chassagne-Montrachet is a white wine made from Chardonnay grown on clay-limestone soils. The estate's holdings in the appellation include Les Benoites, with plantings dating to the 1990s. Fermentation takes place in new and previously used oak barrels, following the estate's white-wine practice. The wine then remains on its fine lees in wood for at least twelve months before a further period in tank. This cellar sequence accompanies a village-level Chassagne-Montrachet from a family established in neighbouring Puligny-Montrachet since 1859.
