Description

Jean Chartron's Montrachet Grand Cru is a white wine made from Chardonnay grown on clay-limestone soils. Its origin places it among the Grand Crus in the range of this family, historically rooted in Puligny-Montrachet. Fermentation takes place in oak barrels using both new and previously used wood, followed by maturation on the fine lees. The cellar approach adapts wood choices and ageing duration to the appellation and vintage. Montrachet also runs through the family's history: in 1873, Jean-Edouard Dupard promoted adding the cru's name to that of Puligny.
