Description
Jean Chartron's Clos du Cailleret Rouge is a Puligny-Montrachet Premier Cru made from Pinot Noir, an unusual presence in the village's production. The estate's red-wine vines in the clos occupy less than five ares, with plantings from 1955 and 1997 on clay-limestone soils. Fermentation takes place in open wooden vats for around two weeks. Maturation follows on the fine lees in previously used oak for approximately sixteen months. The small vineyard area and the choice of Pinot Noir define this cuvée's identity within the Chartron family's tradition.
