Description
Jean François Coquard's Les Charmes is a Morgon made from Gamay grown in the namesake climat on pink schistous granite and eroded schist. Hand harvesting precedes whole-berry vinification; maceration and fermentation take place under temperature control, using concrete. The profile combines small red fruits, apricot and plum with lightly spicy, peppery nuances. On the palate, freshness accompanies substantial fruit, with suggestions of strawberry and silky tannins. The cuvée interprets one of Morgon's historic origins and can accompany poultry, red meats, charcuterie and matured cheeses.
