Maison Stephan’s Côteaux de Bassenon comes from the southern part of Côte-Rôtie, from a historic vineyard on granite and gneiss. The selection brings together Syrah, its old local form known as Sérine, and Viognier, continuing the organic and biodynamic work begun by Jean-Michel Stephan. Grapes are vinified as whole bunches with spontaneous fermentation and a low-intervention approach. Barrel maturation precedes bottling without filtration or added sulphur. The cuvée centres on a precise origin, the heritage of old vines and winemaking intended to preserve the natural vitality of the fruit brought in from the vineyard.
