Description
Insignia 2022 reflects Joseph Phelps’ approach to blending fruit from its Napa Valley estate vineyards. Cabernet Sauvignon forms 92% of the blend, joined by Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc and Malbec. Following fermentation, the wine spends 24 months in new French oak barrels. Dark berries and allspice shape the aromatic opening, followed by cocoa, espresso, herbs and tobacco. Cardamom and nutmeg lend detail to the fruit on the palate. Firm, polished tannins provide definition and balance, carrying the wine towards a warm, savoury finish with room for further development.
