Description

Abts E is Keller’s Riesling Grosses Gewächs associated with the historic Abtserde sector of the Brunnenhäuschen vineyard in Westhofen, Rheinhessen. Its name recalls a site that remained independent until 1971 before being incorporated into the wider vineyard designation. The slope faces south, but westerly winds contribute to a relatively cool climate and late ripening. Clay marl and limestone characterise the soils, sometimes coloured red by their iron content. The cuvée belongs to the top category of dry Riesling and centres its identity on this particular vineyard origin.
