Vipava Chardonnay Obelunec

Description

Obelunec is Kmetija Hedele's single-vineyard Chardonnay from the terraces of the Vipava Valley near the Slovenian village of Goče. Andrea Pittana has made it since the 2018 harvest, selecting the estate's steepest vineyard, rich in ponca and lying between 350 and 400 metres. The vines are farmed without irrigation. Whole-bunch pressing is followed by indigenous-yeast fermentation, and the wine matures in tonneaux before continuing its rest in stainless steel with the lees. This extended contact is central to the producer's exploration of texture and expression in his white wines.
