Description

Clos d’Ambonnay comes from a single walled Pinot Noir vineyard in the heart of Ambonnay, Champagne. The plot covers just 0.68 hectares and has been enclosed by walls since 1766. Rémi and Henri Krug discovered it in 1991 and purchased it three years later; the first harvest used for this cuvée was 1995. Each release therefore brings together one place, one grape variety and one vintage. This approach places the identity of the individual plot at the centre of the wine, extending the house’s practice of vinifying its vineyard parcels separately.
