Clos du Mesnil is Krug’s Champagne made exclusively from Chardonnay grown in a single vineyard in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger. The 1.84-hectare plot lies in the village centre, near the church, and has been surrounded by walls since 1698. Initially intended to supply wines for Grande Cuvée, it displayed sufficient individuality to inspire a separate bottling, first made from the 1979 harvest. Produced in years selected by the house, this cuvée connects one place with one harvest through the individual attention given to the grapes grown within this enclosed vineyard.
