Description

Mullineux’s Iron Syrah comes from a single parcel west of Malmesbury in Swartland. The bush vines, dry-farmed using organic practices, grow on iron-rich soils known locally as koffieklip. Whole bunches are foot-trodden and ferment with indigenous yeasts in open French oak vessels. Maturation continues in barrels and foudre before bottling without fining or filtration. The wine is distinguished by its full body and breadth across the middle of the palate, with velvety tannins and a finish supported by freshness and persistence, reflecting the identity of this individual vineyard.
