Nyetimber’s Blanc de Blancs 2016 explores Chardonnay through extended lees ageing, which contributes to its creamy, complex character. This was the style with which the English estate began its winemaking journey. Fresh lemon notes meet baked apple, white flowers and touches of crème fraîche, accompanied by a flinty mineral accent. The growing season brought a damaging spring frost before a long, warm summer helped the grapes develop. Harvest ran from 12 to 24 October, later than usual, with good-quality fruit despite the season’s reduced yields.
