Description

The 2004 Piantonaia from Podere Poggio Scalette is a single-variety Merlot from the Alta Valle della Greve IGT, grown in the Piantonaia vineyard at Ruffoli (Greve in Chianti). The wine is fermented in stainless steel and aged for about 18 months in new French oak barriques, followed by bottle maturation. On the palate it is structured yet soft, with polished tannins and lingering notes of ripe red fruit and spice.
