Richard Leroy's Les Noëls de Montbenault is a dry Chenin Blanc linked to a single Anjou parcel. The vineyard was purchased in 1996 on winegrower Joël Ménard's advice and became the starting point for Richard and Sophie Leroy's project. The couple left Paris in 1998 to settle in Rablay-sur-Layon. After an initial period devoted to late-harvest wines, Richard directed his work towards dry whites. Vinification uses previously filled barrels and an approach without added sulphur dioxide, seeking to preserve the connection between Chenin and its individual vineyard origin.
