Description
Ridge’s Monte Bello comes from California’s Santa Cruz Mountains, in a landscape influenced by the nearby Pacific Ocean. The vineyards grow on clay and rocky soils over decomposing limestone. Cabernet Sauvignon leads a Bordeaux-inspired blend, determined through tasting the individual lots. Parcels and varieties are handled separately, with fermentation by natural yeasts and time in American oak. The winery’s stated philosophy is to let the character of the place guide the wine, using careful selection to bring its different components together in the finished blend.
