Description

Baffonero is Rocca di Frassinello’s Merlot from the Maremma, planted with clones supplied by Château Lafite during the estates’ original collaboration. Its three-hectare vineyard enjoys a sunny exposure and moderately clay-rich soil containing fragments of galestro shale. The name recalls the nickname given to the hunt leader during traditional Tuscan wild-boar hunts. For the 2020 vintage, vinification took place in concrete and malolactic fermentation was completed. The maturation programme comprised twenty-four months in new French oak barriques followed by a further twelve months in bottle before the wine was released.
