Description

Rodaro Paolo’s Pignolo Romain is a Friuli Colli Orientali red made exclusively from estate-grown Pignolo in the Cividale del Friuli area. Its soils consist of ponca, alternating layers of marl and sandstone of Eocene origin. For the 2014 vintage, the grapes overripened naturally in a drying room before fermentation in stainless steel and lengthy maturation in French oak barriques. The profile combines sour cherry, blackberry and fig with spicy suggestions of nutmeg, cinnamon and liquorice. Lively acidity accompanies fine, vibrant tannins, supporting the wine’s substantial structure and persistent finish.
