Description

Ronco del Picchio is a Sforzato di Valtellina from Sandro Fay made from Nebbiolo (Chiavennasca) grapes grown in the San Gervasio vineyard near Teglio. The grapes undergo drying (appassimento) in small boxes until mid-December, followed by fermentation and roughly 24 months of ageing in oak. The result is a powerful, concentrated red that reflects the high-altitude mountain terroir of Valtellina.
