Description

Calmarossa grows on the steep slopes of Monte Ilice, an ancient crater on Etna’s southeastern side overlooking the Ionian Sea. At around 800 metres, black sands and volcanic ash support old bush-trained Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio vines, including a pre-phylloxera core. This agricultural landscape is preserved alongside fruit trees and local varieties. Stainless steel vinification and maturation in French oak accompany a profile where flowers, cherry and raspberry meet spice and mineral suggestions. The palate seeks balance between fullness, freshness and elegant tannins, reflecting the character of this particular volcanic site.
