Description

Skerlj’s Terrano comes from the family vineyards at Sales in the Trieste Karst. The vines root in thin layers of iron-rich red earth over limestone bedrock. Grapes are harvested by hand and ferment with indigenous yeasts in used oak vessels, remaining in contact with their skins. The wine then matures in wood in the cellar carved into the rock and is bottled without fining or filtration. Its profile combines red and dark fruit with hints of herbs, liquorice and earthy notes, showing an energetic, savoury character closely connected to its Karst origins.
