Description
La Calera del Escaramujo comes from an old vineyard at Fuente-Álamo in the highlands of Jumilla. Abandoned because of difficult access and its north-facing slope, the site was brought back into cultivation by Bodega Cerrón from 2013, with the first harvest in 2017. Monastrell lies at its heart, accompanied by Blanquilla. The soil changes noticeably within the parcel, combining limestone rock, calcarenite and marl. Work is carried out without tractors, using manual methods to avoid compacting the ground. The winery associates this particular place with a distinctive combination of finesse, elegance and austerity.
