Sylvie Esmonin's Clos Saint-Jacques comes from the Premier Cru extending behind the family home and cellar, in the upper part of Gevrey-Chambertin. Pinot Noir grows on clay and limestone soils, with hands-on vineyard work continuing through the manual harvest. Fermentation takes place in open wooden vats and maturation in oak barrels. The cuvée's style favours elegance and complexity, with subtle fruit and a texture that gains detail over time. The direct connection between vineyard and family accompanies a precise interpretation of this site, rooted in its position within the village.
