Description

Solaia comes from the namesake vineyard at Tenuta Tignanello, on a southwest-facing hillside in Chianti Classico. Its rocky soils include limestone, alberese and galestro at approximately 350 to 400 metres above sea level. Antinori first produced the wine in 1978; the project subsequently brought together Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Sangiovese, adjusting the blend to the harvest. Oak maturation accompanies a process based on the selection of its components. The wine thus connects a precisely defined vineyard’s potential with research into international varieties and the traditions of Tuscany.
