Description

The Sadie Family Wines’ Columella 2023 combines Syrah, Mourvèdre, Grenache, Carignan, Cinsaut, Tinta Barocca and Pinotage from vineyards across Paardeberg, Kasteelberg, Malmesbury and Piquetberg. Individual berries are hand-sorted and ferment spontaneously in open concrete vessels before basket pressing. Maturation includes one year in French oak barrels and a second in large foudres, followed by bottling without fining or filtration. The producer describes strawberry, dark cherry and floral notes, with a compact structure that needs time, presenting this release as a wine for patient development.
