Description

Treinspoor comes from old Tinta Barocca vines in the Swartland, west of Malmesbury on the road towards Darling. Planted in 1974, the vineyard lies beside an old railway line, which gives the wine its name. Its soils combine decomposed granite and Table Mountain sandstone. The bush vines form a natural shelter around the bunches, an important advantage for a thin-skinned variety vulnerable to sunburn. The Sadie Family bottles this traditionally useful blending grape on its own, recognising the complexity and distinctive identity that emerge as the vineyard grows older.
