Description

Tyrrell’s Vat 1 Semillon comes from the estate’s finest old vineyard blocks, with Short Flat always at the centre of the selection. Its oldest vines date from 1923, and Semillon occupies the middle of the site, where sandy-loam soils are relatively uniform. The wine belongs to the Winemaker’s Selection range, created by Murray Tyrrell with Len Evans’s help in 1965. The reference to vats recalls the winery’s historic casks, preserving a connection with the work of earlier generations in the Hunter Valley.
