Van Zellers & Co.’s 50 Years Very Old Tawny Port brings together wines matured for more than five decades in old oak casks. Grapes come from Cima Corgo, particularly the Torto and Pinhão valleys, with a broad diversity of traditional varieties. The aromatic profile suggests toasted coconut, dried figs, almonds, raisins and dates, alongside nutmeg and tobacco. A lemon nuance brightens the finish. Served cool, it accompanies crème brûlée, almonds and salted caramel, relating the concentration of the wine to the sweetness of the dish.
