Description
Valbuena 5º expresses the place of Tinto Fino, the local name for Tempranillo, in Vega Sicilia’s wines. This variety dominates the blend, with a contribution from Merlot that varies by harvest. The grapes come from gently sloping, concave sites where eroded material has accumulated above a deep calcareous layer. Fermentation with indigenous yeasts takes place in stainless steel, as does malolactic fermentation. The name recalls a five-year journey through wood and bottle, including French and American oak used in vessels of different sizes.
