Venica & Venica’s Bottaz reflects the winery’s connection with Refosco and Friuli’s red-wine tradition. The namesake vineyard contains Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso and Refosco di Faedis, also known as Refoscone. In the producer’s historical account, the grape appears in Udine’s records as early as 1347 alongside Ribolla Gialla. The name Refosco is traced to the Friulian expression for a dark bunch, connecting this wine with the history of a family of local grape varieties.
